These photographs were taken from the same vantage point on different days, each around the same time: the last twenty minutes or so of the day, which I greet with great anticipation, waiting for the grand surprise of the day’s unique crescendo. The light changes with each passing minute heading for sundown. Depending on the strange convergence of clouds and moisture and timing, every sunset arrives with its own particular alchemy and imprints the sky with a timestamp. I look forward to the end of each day for the simple reason that I never know what will be written above, in my unobstructed view of the Pacific Ocean. To me, it’s always a celebration, a breath-catching, awestruck way of closing the day, and I never take a sunset for granted.

“Every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
